PASSPORT SERVICES INFORMATION

Passport Extension

Since 2015, the Government of the Republic of Congo requires all Congolese citizens to have the CEMAC (Central African Economic and Monetary Community) passport. However, the Embassy of the Republic of Congo in London does not issue these passports at present. Therefore, Congolese citizens traveling to the Republic of Congo are highly advised to apply for a CEMAC passport while they are there.

The Embassy of the Republic of Congo in London informs its citizens that it does not extend CEMAC or Congolese biometric passports. Once expired, citizens must apply for a new passport in the Republic of Congo. Those in the UK or Ireland with expired passports must apply in person in Congo. Before travel, they need to get a Travel Document or Laissez-Passer from the Consular Section in London.

Lost Passport

The Embassy of the Republic of Congo advises Congolese nationals living in the UK or Ireland to report any
lost passports to the Embassy to prevent potential misuse.

To report a lost Congolese passport and acquire a certificate of loss, applicants need to present:
• A copy of the misplaced or stolen passport. It is advisable to always retain a photocopy of your Congolese passport.
• A police report verifying that the passport has been lost or stolen.
• An official letter addressed to the Embassy of the Republic of Congo to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, detailing the circumstances of the loss and the intention to apply for a certificate of loss.
Please note: The fee for the Lost Passport Certificate is £25.00, payable only in cash (if presenting in person).

Travel Document/Laissez-Passer

Congolese citizens intending to travel to the Republic of Congo with lost or expired passports are required to apply for a Travel Document or Laissez-Passer.
Essential information about this document includes: • It is valid for only 30 days.
• It is only valid for entry into the Republic of Congo and cannot have any other country’s visa stamped on it.
• It is only valid for entry into the Republic of Congo and cannot have any other country’s visa stamped on it.

To apply for a Travel Document/Laissez-Passer, the following documents are required:
• Two colour passport photos (2x2 inches or 51x51 mm).
• A photocopy of a previous Congolese passport or a certified Congolese birth certificate.
• A second readable, coloured photocopy of any prior or current ID to confirm identity (e.g., School ID, Permanent Resident Card, Driver's License, or Consular Card). Applicants from the UK or Ireland must also present documentation proving their legal immigration status.
• A clear document verifying the applicant's legal status in the UK or Ireland.
• A signed and typewritten letter addressed to the Embassy of the Republic of Congo in London.
• A copy of your flight reservation or itinerary to the Republic of Congo.
• The application fee for the Laissez-Passer is £100.

Application Information for a CEMAC Biometric Passport (Exclusively in the Republic of Congo)

Important Notice:

All Congolese nationals seeking to obtain a CEMAC biometric passport must apply in person within the Republic of Congo. It should be noted that the Embassy of the Republic of Congo in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland does not handle passport applications currently.

CEMAC biometric passports are valid for just five years and are not eligible for renewal. Once they expire, individuals must submit a new application to obtain a passport.

Required Documents for Congolese CEMAC Biometric Passport Application:
• Completed application form obtained from the Office of Emigration at the Direction
Générale de la Surveillance Territoriale (DGST).
• A copy of the original Congolese birth certificate.
• Passport application fee of 60,000 FCFA.
• A copy of the Congolese nationality certificate or a Congolese national identity card.
• Photocopy of any previous Congolese passport or another passport in the event of an application for Congolese citizenship.
• Documentation verifying the applicant's profession.
• If married, a legalized copy of the marriage certificate.
• An extract from the applicant's criminal record detailing their judicial history for the past five years, either in the Republic of Congo or their country of residence.
• Two passport photos (4cm x 4cm, white background, impassive face directly facing the camera).

The Consular Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Congo in London. encourages applicants to thoroughly comply with all the listed requirements. Failure to provide the required documents will result in the rejection of your application.
